Addiction Recovery Care (ARC) is now providing those recovering from substance use disorders an opportunity to earn a certificate in carpentry!
“Our goal from day one has been to provide not only treatment for substance use disorders but real training so our clients can go back into the world with a career and the tools necessary to give back to our society. This program will do just that,” said Addiction Recovery Care CEO Tim Robinson.
Clients in the final phase of recovery within ARC’s four phase program have the chance to complete their treatment by interning within the carpentry program at Carpernter’s Village in Owsley County, Kentucky. A former bible camp, the center now provides treatment for over 40 men within the Addiction Recovery Care network.
With all the tools and equipment necessary, clients will be instructed by veterans of the carpentry industry. The training, lasting a little over five weeks, will also accumulate toward a 25 hour work-ready certificate presented by The Millard College based in Louisa, Kentucky.
“This gives an opportunity for the employers who are desperately looking for work to grab someone who has some experience,” said carpentry instructor and center director Adam Stall. “What these guys are going to learn here is going to give them enough experience where employers will want to hire and put them to work.”
